The headteacher of Lichfield Cathedral School has praised the dedication of students after A Level result were announced.
The school saw 31% of results come in as A or A*, up 17% from last year, while 86% of all grades were at C and above.
Headteacher Susan Hannam said: “These excellent results reflect the hard work and positive attitudes of our students and the skill, professionalism and dedication of our wonderful teachers.
“As a non-selective school, students come to us with a wide range of ability – it is thrilling that every student has fulfilled their academic ambitions and been offered a place on the course of their choice.
“They had a great work ethic – they embraced their studies, took advice, knew when to ask for help, managed their time brilliantly and honestly worked to the best of their abilities.
“Every student should feel very proud of their accomplishments – we certainly are.”
Students will now go on to study courses at university in subjects such as maths, music, modern languages, law, medicine and astrophysics.
Tony Sherrington, head of sixth form, said: “We are particularly delighted with the success of our newly-introduced Level 3 BTEC vocational qualifications in applied law and business in which 100% of entries achieved an equivalent grade A* to C.
“The BTECs combine exams with real life practical tasks and develop students’ employability skills.”
