A HEADTEACHER has confirmed strike action will see a Lichfield school close for three days this week.
Members of the National Education Union are set to take part in the latest round of walkouts this week in protest at planned redundancies at the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership.
Ellie Ballinger, executive headteacher at St Michael’s CE Primary School has confirmed to parents that a complete closure will take place tomorrow (20th January), Wednesday and Thursday.
In a letter to parents this morning, she said:
“Unfortunately, following further communications and developments over the weekend and this morning in relation to the upcoming industrial strike due this week, I write to inform you that the school will be closed to all pupils on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. A full review of the risk assessment has been carried out and due to insufficient staffing has shown we will be unable to operate safely.
“Apologies for the inconvenience this will cause at such short notice, but we are working with an ever-changing picture and having to make dynamic reviews as we go along.”
The headteacher added that remote learning would be provided for all children.
But she added that further planned strike action could continue to cause disruption.
“I would like to reiterate that at this stage we are unable to clarify or confirm what industrial strike action will look like beyond this week and the likely impact this will have across our school.
“It is with regret that I inform you of these circumstances but please be assured that the wellbeing and safety of our children continues to remain our priority.”
