One of the protesters who clashed with transport minister Philip Hammond in Lichfield has revealed why she felt the need to let him know what she thought.
Pamela Tole was among a group of campaigners who got the chance to air their views on the proposals when the Secretary of State attended a meeting at the Lichfield Guildhall.
And although the meeting was behind closed doors, Mr Hammond did meet protesters afterwards – and quickly found himself fending off questions from Mrs Tole.
As he stepped outside the Guildhall she told him:
“We don’t want it in Lichfield – we can’t afford it!”
However, Mr Hammond told her that the Government “has to invest in infrastructure”.
But Mrs Tole told The Lichfield Blog she felt that she had to tackle him on an issue which she says will blight her home.
