An independent candidate says he still intends to be a voice for local residents despite failing to gain election at Lichfield District Council.

Chris Wilkinson

Chris Wilkinson secured 285 votes in the Stowe ward, but it wasn’t enough to see him win a seat.

Conservative duo Angela Lax and Colin Greatorex were elected, along with independent candidate Jeyan Anketell.

But despite not winning a seat, Mr Wilkinson said he hoped to stand again in future.

“For a young first-time candidate, I think I did fairly well and I’m very happy to see so many people turn out in support of my policies,” he said.

“Congratulations to Jeyan Anketell who was elected as an independent for Stowe – at least one of us made it!

“You can be sure that I’ll continue to be a voice for Stowe residents regarding local issues.

“With a foot now in the electoral door, I hope to make my presence greater in future.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
