LABOUR has confirmed its candidate for a forthcoming Lichfield District Council by-election.
Retired teacher Glen Bown will hope to win the Alrewas and Fradley seat when voters head to the polls on 24th July.
The seat became available following the resignation of former council leader Mike Wilcox who stepped down for “personal reasons”.
Mr Bown said he was keen to be an advocate for the local community:
“Fradley and Alrewas need investment – we need improvements for our local canals and towpaths, we need a family friendly village pub for Fradley, we need to make Bown Pond a true community asset and we need a railway station in Alrewas.
“These are local initiatives that will make a real difference. The alternative is the Conservatives or Reform fighting amongst themselves or carping from the sidelines.”
Cllr Sue Woodward, leader of the Labour group at Lichdfield District Council, said:
“Having Glen as a hard-working Labour Councillor will help Fradley and Alrewas get better focus from the council and help the whole council work better – I wish him every success.”
