A Labour representative at Burntwood Town Council has stepped down.
Cllr Keith Willis-Croft has resigned from his role, with a party spokesperson confirming it was for personal reasons.
A notice issued by Burntwood Town Council confirmed his departure, saying that an election would be held for the vacancy if requested in writing by ten electors from the Chasetown ward.
A spokesperson for Burntwood Town Council confirmed that if an election wasn’t triggered then the seat would be filled by a preferred candidate decided by the full council.
Cllr Willis-Croft was one of six Labour councillors on the 22-strong Conservative-controlled town council.
Meanwhile, members of the Labour party paid tribute to the outgoing councillor.
Cllr Sue Woodward said: “He has been an enthusiastic town councillor, going the extra mile by attending advice surgeries or Cabinet meetings at Lichfield District Council.
“I wish him well in the future.”
