The leader of Lichfield District Council says consultation events will help to find a way forward following the collapse of the Friarsgate redevelopment scheme.
Cllr Mike Wilcox was speaking after 300 people attended an event at Lichfield Guildhall yesterday (6th March)
As well as offering their views on the future of the newly-rebranded Birmingham Road Site, visitors also found out more about the role of the working group in creating a future vision for the vacant land.
The event followed a discussion last month involving groups including Lichfield City Council and Lichfield Business Improvement District.
Cllr Mike Wilcox said: “I’m really pleased so many local people, groups and stakeholders have got involved in the initial phases of the Birmingham Road Site development process.
“Both events have given us the opportunity to find out what local people and key organisations want for the area, within the framework of the wider city centre and the context of the changing nature of the high street and different economic landscape.
“Thank you to everyone who joined us at the events. We’ve had lots of ideas and views, which the members task group will go through when looking at the next stage in the planning process.

The events took place as a draft brief was drawn up ahead of consultants being appointed to create a new plan for the land earmarked for Friarsgate.
