The controversial idea drew criticism from former chairman Steve Norman, who accused Cllr Norma Bacon of “missing the regalia she is used to” in her roles on Lichfield City Council.

But Cllr Bacon said her idea was quite common at other councils.

She told LichfieldLive: “I proposed we had a gallery for present and ex-chairmen of Burntwood Town Council, in recognition of the work they did for the council and also the history of our town.

“I have visited many councils in my 22 years as a councillor, and many have these photo galleries.”
