Employees at a Lichfield bank have gone the extra mile to raise money for the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust.
Staff at the Conduit Street branch of TSB set themselves the challenge of rowing seven miles – the length of the Lichfield Canal – on a machine inside the branch in their quiet times, and raised £30 for the Trust.
The TSB employees completed the first six miles and three trust volunteers, chairperson Christine Bull, Aileen Salter and Patsy Wilson, pulled their weight outside the branch to row the last mile, collecting almost £20 from passers-by.
Christine said: “We’ve really enjoyed being TSB Lichfield’s charity partner over the last year and thrilled that they’re continuing the partnership in the coming year.
“From this year’s partnership we’ve received over £200, support in the form of mince pies for our Carol Singing in 2017, and the receipt of two pick axes, eight garden forks, 15 spades, five rakes and various other tools from the branch’s notice asking for donated garden tools.
“They’ve also sold some calendars and distributed information for us.”
