Lichfield rider Gary Mason believes the key to success lies in his improving his qualifying performances.

The British Superbikes racer was once again forced to watch team-mate Stuart Easton claim the plaudits as he consolidated his second place in the championship.

But Mason is confident that the potential is there for him to match Easton next time out at Croft.

He said:

“We definitely found some pace at Oulton which we need to translate into results. We need to be stronger from practice into that final qualifying session so I have more of a chance of getting away at the front. Then there’s no reason why we can’t get some good scores on the board!”

MSS Colchester Kawasaki team boss Nick Morgan admitted he hopes the friendly rivalry will spur Mason on. He explained:

“Gary was battling away with good lap times at Oulton in the second race, but just lost the tow of the main group. Stuart has had a dream start to the season and I think his results will be even more motivation to Gary’s side of the garage to get up with him at Croft.”
