Lichfield rider Gary Mason overcame the odds to claim points in the latest round of the British Superbikes Championship.

Electrical issues forced the city racer’s MSS Colchester Kawasaki bike out of the first race of the weekend at Thruxton.

And things didn’t look much better in race two when suspension problems meant he had to start from the pit lane.

But Mason managed to finish 14th and collect valuable points.

He said after the race:

“The electrical issues meant that the first race was a disaster but having started from the pit lane in race two, getting back to 14th proves that I have the speed. Two points is useful but the main thing is I know we will be strong at Knockhill.”

The result leaves Mason 12th in the championship table.
