LICHFIELD City has appointed Matty Lovatt as the club’s new manager.
The former Dudley Town boss will make the switch after his current side’s JW Hunt Cup final on 26th May.
Lovatt has spent seven years with the Robins and succeeds Ivor Green at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium following his resignation after six years at the helm.
A City spokesperson said:
“Matty’s professionalism, work ethic and enthusiasm is infectious which will be invaluable as we embark on a new era in a new league.”
Lichfield have moved to the Northern Premier League West division for next season, having finished their first campaign at step four in the Midland division just five points outside the play-offs.
City skipper Dan Lomas said he was looking forward to working with the new boss.
He said:
“I’m really pleased that Matty has been given a chance at this level as he’s someone I’ve admired as a manager when playing Dudley previously.
“It’s obvious to see he has a winner’s mentality.His teams have always given 100% for him and Dudley were always tough opposition who were very drilled into how they wanted to play, so that speaks volumes.”
Lovatt will be joined by his backroom staff of assistant manager Jay Coyne and coach Ryan McDonagh.
