Lichfield City’s run of good form continued as they beat Romulus 3-0.
Captain Dan Lomas, Luke Childs and Jack Edwards were on target as they stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 games in all competitions.
Ivor Green made three changes to his starting line-up from last weekend’s 1-0 away win at Studley.
City were forced onto the back foot early on by Romulus, with the away side’s flamboyant forward Islia Marsilia looking dangerous in the opening stages.
Despite the early pressure, Lichfield took the lead just ten minutes in when Lomas headed home from the second of two back-to-back corners.
City had several chances to double their lead in the first half. A ball in from Kieran Francis flew inches too high for Edwards to nod in at the back post, before a scramble on the goal line had to be smothered by Romulus keeper Lewis Gwilliams.
At the other end of the pitch, Lichfield’s centre back duo were also busy, with Haines forced to clear high over his own crossbar as he intercepted a threatening low ball into the six-yard box.
Romulus grew into the game towards the end of the first half, but despite their best efforts the hosts managed to maintain their one goal lead at the half-time break.
Dominic Lewis was substituted on by Green at the interval – and the change gave City the control they needed as they doubled their advantage on 53 minutes when Childs fired his shot into the bottom corner after taking the ball short from Haines’ corner.
Dan Smith nearly scored his 17th goal of the season after breaking forward from half-way, but the Romulus defender did just enough to put him off his shot which went wide.
Edwards scored the third from Haines’ free kick in the 85th minute to seal the victory for his side, before the referee’s final whistle confirmed Lichfield’s sixth straight home win.
