Police are hoping Lichfield commuters can help trace a woman they want to speak to in connection with an assault.

A woman and a teenager became involved in an argument on the 5.05pm Birmingham New Street to Lichfield City train.

When the cross-city service called at Erdington the woman assaulted the 16-year-old.

PC Nick Tatlow said: “Enquiries have been ongoing to trace the woman who carried out the assault and I would now ask members of the public to come forward with information if they know the identity of the woman in this photograph.

“We believe she will have key information which can assist the investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting incident reference WWA/B4 of 30/12/2013. Alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
