THE organisers of a festive toy appeal say they were “blown away” by the generosity of local people.
Elaine’s Toy and Gift Appeal saw almost 6,000 youngsters receive a Christmas present.
Founder Elaine Hutchings BEM said:
“We were blown away by the generosity of local businesses and the community, as donations exceeded the previous year.
“The team work all year round to create awareness of the differing reasons why many children go without a gift at Christmas. Many people assume that this is due to financial issues, but there are many other reasons.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved in making the appeal such a success once more.”
