A 63-year-old Lichfield man has been jailed for nine years for a series of historic sex offences committed against a young girl.
Stanley Richardson, of Chapel Lane, Whittington, was found guilty of one count of rape and five counts of indecent assault, following a trial at Stafford Crown Court, on 13th December.
The court was told Richardson, who was aged in his late-20s at the time of the offences, helped out at Whittington Youth Club.
Three separate incidents took place in the early 1980s at Whittington Youth Club. The girl was aged under 13 years at the time.
Detective Constable Nick Gorman, of Staffordshire Police, said: “It is the bravery of the witness in coming forward and giving her evidence which has led to Stanley Richardson’s jail term.
“These were despicable offences committed against a young, vulnerable girl. We will always do whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice, while ensuring victims and their families are offered the support they need.”
Richardson was sentenced on 15th February at Stafford Crown Court to nine years for rape, with two further sentences of 18 months, two further sentences of 12 months, and a further sentence of six months for the indecent assaults all to be served concurrently. His license period will be extended by a further 12 months.
