A Lichfield museum is hosting a workshop to mark International Women’s Day.
The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum will be examining the lives of tradeswomen in Georgian Lichfield on March 8.
At 2pm, Sue Bray will use original documents and records to explore this fascinating period in the city’s past.
Museum curator Jo Wilson said: “Following the death of Samuel Johnson’s father Michael and Samuel’s departure for London in the 1730s, the Johnson family bookshop was entirely run by women – Samuel’s mother Sarah, his stepdaughter Lucy and even the family servant and his good friend Kitty were all involved.
“It’s a fascinating part of our building’s history and Sue’s expertise and passion for the subject make this an unmissable session.”
