Pupils from a Lichfield school have taken part in a unique class as part of This Is Engineering Day 2019.
The group from from Greysbrooke Primary School in Shenstone spent the day programming robots and taking a behind-the-scenes-tour of the Amazon facility in Rugeley.
The Year 5 class also meet some of the engineers who work at the site and learned about the technology that helps keep the fulfilment centre running.
One of the pupils, nine-year-old George, said: ““It was brilliant to go to Amazon and learn how to programme the robots.
“We loved it and we saw so many cool things on the shelves.”
Gary Norton, site leader at Amazon in Rugeley, added: “We passionately support the ethos behind This Is Engineering Day, which is all about bring engineering to life for young people.
“We enjoyed welcoming the pupils from Greysbrooke Primary School to our fulfilment centre as part of our Amazon Future Engineer programme and I hope that their visit showed them how much fun a STEM-based career can be.
“Who knows – we may be welcoming some of them back in years to come as engineers.”
