Lichfield racing driver Adam Christodoulou made it a birthday to remember by taking the first in class prize during his latest outing.
His 22nd birthday weekend saw the race cut short due to tough weather conditions but the hard work had already been put in to ensure perfect preparation for the Nürburgring 24 hour race.
The pressure was on Christodoulou from the off as he only had time for one flying lap to improve on co-driver Tim Mullen’s efforts. But the Lichfield man was more than equal to the task, taking his car to first in class and 26th overall, breaking the old lap record for the category in the process.
Andreas Montmann and Phil Quaife got behind the wheel before the Lichfield racer’s turn came an hour and 30 minutes before the end of the race.
And he produced the goods to put the car top of the category when the race was cut short as the rain came.
Christodoulou said:
“This was a perfect result for my birthday. The team had done a great job on the radio and in the pits. All our stops had been faultless, and together we had executed the race perfectly.
“With less than ten days to go before we go back to the Nürburgring for the 24 hour event, we are all hopeful to repeat the result next time. Over 250 cars will be starting on the grid, so it’s guaranteed action and one of my toughest races to date. I’m looking forward to seeing how we get on and I’m confident that we have a good chance of a back-to-back win.”
