A light and sound display will be used to honour Burntwood’s war heroes.
Artist Peter Walker is asking local residents to provide photographs to form part of the Remember project which will be beamed onto the facade of St Anne’s Church on November 11.
“We are delighted to be able to bring further artwork to the town as part of our long term projects in the area, especially using a contemporary art form in terms of light projection which will create an art work both local and poignant and which should appeal to all generations,” he said.
The Sculpture and Art foundation CIC want people to help create the archive of remembrance at Burntwood Library on October 26 and 27. Their images will be scanned and digitised for inclusion in the project.
Peter added: “The event is to be produced by Luxmuralis, which has shown events nationally and internationally, while composer and sound artist David Harper – originally from Burntwood – will write a bespoke piece to accompany the images collected as they are projected onto the facade of the church.”
The event – which takes place from 6pm to 8pm on November 11 – will also allow people to see the Burntwood Wakes Festival archive film and the History of Burntwood Mining film.
