Busy Bees was one of only six businesses to win the award when it was announced on the Queen’s 92nd birthday in April.

The presentation took place at the company’s headquarters on Shaftsbury Drive last month.

Ian Dudson, Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, met the management team, nursery staff, apprentices and children during his visit to make the presentation.

Chief academic officer Marg Randles – who was one of those who founded the company in Lichfield – said: “We all want the best start in life for our children, but no two families are the same. That’s why it is so important to us that the Busy Bees family is made up of people with different experiences and backgrounds, while sharing the same commitment, compassion and patience it takes to be a childcare practitioner.

“Promoting opportunity has long been a top priority of ours. Having this recognised with a Queen’s Award is a testament of our commitment to our staff and the children they care for and inspire each and every day.”
