A LOCAL MP has met with the Energy Minister to highlight concerns over transparency in the sector for businesses.

Labour’s Sarah Edwards has launched a new Charter for Trust after highlighting issues such as incorrect billing for companies.

The MP for Tamworth – which covers areas such as Stonnall, Fazeley, Shenstone and Whittington – met with Energy Minister Chris McDonald to raise her concerns.

She said:

“Right now, too many businesses are navigating a system where the true cost of electricity isn’t clear, pricing structures vary wildly and commission arrangements are often hidden.

“That lack of transparency weakens competition and risks smaller firms paying more than they should.

“This was a really positive discussion on how we can clean this up. I’ll keep pushing for a fairer, more transparent energy market that works for small and medium-sized businesses.”
