The National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield will be part of a new trail across Staffordshire.
An £80,000 Arts Council project has been launched to commemorate the centenary of the First World War across the region.
The Staffordshire Great War trail will centre on Cannock Chase’s military training camps and war cemeteries, but will also link to the Staffordshire Regiment Museum at Whittington and the National Memorial Arboretum.
An online project will also allow people to access records, stories and photos from the period.
Janene Cox, Staffordshire County Council’s commissioner for tourism said: “I am delighted with our progress so far in the development of a Staffordshire Great War Trail which will link venues and activities for the duration of the centenary.
“The Cannock Chase camps trained over 500,000 British and Dominion troops for frontline service, while the Staffordshire Regiments were involved in every major campaign of the War.
“The stories of those who served, those who returned and those who did not, are important and will be told as part of our plans.”
