Two schools in Lichfield and Burntwood will see 20mph speed limits introduced.
St Joseph’s and St Theresa’s in Chasetown and St Peter’s in Stonnall will join more than 60 schools across Staffordshire which have already seen the 20 is Plenty scheme introduced.
Staffordshire County Council gained special authorisation from Government to allow the speed restrictions on the roads.
County Councillor Mike Maryon, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Staffordshire is a listening council and I have heard the message loud and clear from residents – road safety is a top priority.
“The 20 is Plenty campaign has proved to be incredibly successful since it was launched over a year ago. So far 66 schools, and thousands of children, have benefited from this first class scheme and I am determined that many more will do so in the future.
“We have had some very positive feedback from the communities that have already had the 20mph signs. They have told us that they have noticed a difference in motorists’ behaviour and that people are taking heed of the message and putting their brakes on when driving past schools.
“Reducing speeds from 30mph to 20mph can literally save lives.”
