A shake-up in the cabinet at Lichfield District Council has been confirmed by the local authority’s leader.
Cllr Angela Lax will now oversee climate change, ecology and housing, while Cllr Andy Smith will be tasked with the new Lichfield leisure centre.
The changes follow the appointment of Cllr Liz Little to the waste and recycling brief following Cllr Ashley Yeates decision to leave the cabinet.
Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, said:
“We’ve got a busy year ahead. Cllr Smith’s role has been focused purely on driving the new leisure centre forward, while Cllr Lax has been tasked with creating an urban design code – if Government require us to permit housing developments, I want them to be the most sustainable, beautiful communities that they can possibly be.
“With responsibility for ecology and climate change, Cllr Lax will also build on our award-winning work to increase bio-diversity across the district and accelerate our plans for carbon neutrality by 2035.”

Cllr Richard Cox remains in charge of the community engagement portfolio, with Cllr Strachan overseeing our finance and procurement functions.
Deputy leader Cllr Eadie retains responsibility for economic development and the Local Plan.
