Anyone interested in forming a new community history group in Lichfield is invited to an informal meeting in the city.
Organisers are hoping that a display of old photographs and examples of similar successful projects in other areas will help to encourage people to share their ideas on how to explore the many layers of Lichfield’s past.
Kate Gomez, one of those behind the initiative said: “Whether it’s lost pubs, childhood memories or ancient landscapes that interest you, we want you to come along and get involved.
“It’s about sharing what we already know and developing ways to work together as a community to discover more about this fantastic city of ours.”
Some of the ideas already suggested include an archaeological dig somewhere in the district, a mobile display of photographs to be set up a various locations across the city, story sharing sessions and the development of a series of new history walks.
The group will meet at the George IV pub on Bore Street tomorrow (July 3) at 7pm.
