A TRAIN operator says thousands of extra seats will be on offer for people travelling from Lichfield to London when a new timetable kicks in this weekend.

London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is introducing new longer trains from Sunday (14th December).

The new fleet – known as Class 730/2s – can carry significantly more passengers and will represent a 20% increase in capacity.

Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said:

“The extra capacity we are introducing on the Trent Valley line from this weekend will make a real difference to the millions of customers who use the route every year.

“These trains are the cornerstone of our £1billion investment into the railway. As well as extra seats, the new trains offer modern features including smart air conditioning, open gangways and charging points at every seat.

“I am certain they will continue proving popular with our passengers.”
