A NEW vicar has been appointed for Shenstone and Stonnall.
The Revd Jonathan Iddon will take up the appointment next year.
The 42-year-old married father of four has been the vicar of the Peel parishes, based at Fazeley, for more than 11 years.
He said:
“We are excited about the future that God has in store in Shenstone and Stonnall, while also being sad that we will be leaving the Peel Parishes where our roots have been for more than a decade.”
Jonathan took up a religious career after initially studying animation and film making at university.
A gap year with a Christian charity working in Africa, India and Australia helped shape his ambitions when him return to the UK to work at a church in his home city of Wolverhampton.
After moving moved to Tamworth, Jonathan began studing at theological college in Nottingham before being priested in 2012, taking the post at Fazeley a year later.
The avid Liverpool football fan – who also lists Shakespeare and professional wrestling among his interests – will begin his new role in Shenstone and Stonnall early next year, before moving into the St John’s Hill vicarage in the summer following his children’s exams.
“The move wasn’t in anyway planned, but we felt God was stirring us to look at new futures with our eyes coming to rest on Shenstone and Stonnall.
“We look forward to being part of the two communities.”
