The number of incidents caught on CCTV in Lichfield and Burntwood has dropped.
Lichfield District Council monitors 129 cameras across the region.
But new figures have revealed the number of incidents captured on film dropped 3.4% from 1,625 during 2013/14 to 1,569 last year.
However, the number of arrests as a result of CCTV monitoring rose 9.5% from 157 to 172.
The CCTV camera network cost Lichfield District Council £122,787 last year, but a recent survey by the local authority found more than half of people supported the money being spent.
As well as detecting crime, a report to the council’s overview and scrutiny committee for community, housing and health revealed the cameras also had other uses.
“The District Council also uses its CCTV capability to manage its city centre car parks by enabling officers to compile usage statistics,” the report said. “Ticket sales information only gives a partial
picture of usage as this cannot account for permit holders and non paying Blue Badge holders.
