The Lichfield Festival is welcoming pianist Joanna MacGregor back for a solo performance.

She last visited the Festival in 2004 when she played with jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, but will appear on her own this year, performing a programme spanning 300 years of piano music, including pieces by Bach and Chopin.

Audiences will also be able to hear her interpretatons of tangos by the celebrated Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla.

Joanna has been the Artistic Director of Bath International Music Festival since 2006, and in September she takes up her appointment as Head of Keyboard at The Royal Academy of Music. She was also the curator of the 2010 Deloitte Ignite Festival at the Royal Opera House, bringing together visual artists, contemporary dance, film and theatre installations, as well as music collaborations. Her music has seen performances in more than 60 countries

Joanna MacGregor plays in Lichfield Cathedral at 7.30pm on July 9 and tickets are now available from the Lichfield Festival box office at the Garrick Theatre, on 01543 412121 or online at www.lichfieldfestival.org.
