PLANS have been drawn up for 70 new homes on land in Kings Bromley.
The application has been submitted for a field between Lichfield Road and Crawley Lane.
The site lies alongside Kings Bromley Cricket Club and residential properties.
A planning statement said:
“The application site comprises 3.87 hectares of agricultural land located directly adjacent to the village of Kings Bromley.
“In light of Lichfield district’s deliverable housing supply shortfall, this is being proposed to help boost housing delivery and meet identified housing needs.”
Due to the proximity of the cricket pitch to the proposed development, an analysis has also been carried out to assess the risk of balls being hit towards the site.
A study by specialists Labosport said mitigations such as a two-metre high ball netting or fencing would help reduce risk.
It added:
“This may not stop all shots from landing beyond the site boundary, but it is believed from the assessment of the ball trajectory that it will significantly reduce their frequency.”
