THERE were plenty of tries to be enjoyed during the two games featuring Lichfield sides at Cooke Fields last weekend.
Lichfiled's men took on Thornbury, while the Colts faced Burntwood.
The respective players were given an opportunity to play a series of sessions with full contact possible on playable surfaces, following extensive work during the summer when most pitches now resemble a rock hard scorched earth.
But despite this, a decision by the RFU will see the start of the men's and women's league campaigns pushed back by a fortnight due to the impact of warm weather on pitches across the country.
The first games will now be on 26th September – a squeeze on all clubs’ finances and potentially causing issues later in the season if there are further weather related postponements.
There will be further live rugby on offer at 3pm this Saturday (22nd August) as part of the club’s all day Offload Festival to promote rugby and the role the club has in the city.
Then on Sunday, the colts are again at home to Stafford at 2pm in another warm up friendly.
