NEW plans have been drawn up to convert a former pub for residential use.

The proposals for the Black Horse Inn on Main Road in Edingale have been submitted to Lichfield District Council.

The application said that the pub had been shut for a number of years as a result of “dwindling users, a pandemic, health issues and a
change in attitudes to drinking”.

A previous bid to have the site listed as an Asset of Community Value was rejected in 2023.

The planning statement added:

“The applicant has marketed the property for continued use as a public house, but was
unsuccessful in selling it.

“Property agents marketed the site for a 12-month period on a freehold basis. Over the period, only four viewings were conducted, with no parties interested in making an offer. The key concern is the condition of the building and the availability of other public houses, both vacant and in other locations.”

Full details can be found on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
