PLANS for a new three-bedroom property on garden land in Lichfield have been rejected.
The development had been proposed for the plot adjacent to 31 Oakhurst.
But officials at Lichfield District Council said the scheme could not be given the green light.
A planning decision notice said:
“The proposed development represents an overdevelopment of the site, resulting in a cramped and incongruous form of development that is out of keeping with the established character and grain of the area.
“The excessive scale, footprint, and layout of the dwelling would consume a significant proportion of the plot width and depth, leaving limited space for meaningful landscaping or amenity provision, contrary to the established pattern of development within Oakhurst and The Squirrels.
“The proposal fails to respect the character, layout, and spacing of surrounding properties, which typically benefit from wider plots, greater separation distances and more generous garden spaces.”
Other issues raised by planning decision makers included a lack of turning space for vehicles, the impact on neighbouring properties and trees, and a lack of amenity space for future occupants.
