A report has backed proposals for 150 new homes on land in Burntwood.

Plans have been drawn up for the properties on Milestone Way.

It comes in the wake of a 350 new properties on adjoining land.

But there had been criticism from some local residents about the impact the new development would have on already stretched local facilities.

However, a report from one of Lichfield District Council’s planning officer said these concerns could not prevent approval for the homes being granted.

“It is evident that the capacity of the health facilities to accomodate additional patients and the resurfacing of the estate road to the industrial units are not in themselves material to the planning process,” the report said.

“Economically, the proposal will provide employment opportunities through creating a development whose future residents would support existing facilities.

“It is considered that adequate open space will be provided to meet the needs of future and existing residents.”

A decision will be made at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee on September 26.
