Relative newbie to the brewing scene in the West Midlands, Shenstone Brew Co. have launched their second ale to celebrate Christmas and The Lichfield Blog were invited along to The Fox and Hounds in Shenstone for the launch.

Getting straight down to details, the Xmas Ale has an ABV of 4.3%, just over the ‘premium’ threshold of 4.1%. It’s a very easy going ale, with quite a moreish taste to it. It’s not too heavy nor is it too hoppy. It’s milder than the brewery’s first ale, 3 Spires making it easy for me to sink three pints of the stuff to make sure I got all the detail I needed for this review.

The launch itself was quite an event. We met with Nick and Chris of Shenstone Brew as well as an advisor and former managing director of Burton Brewery. One of Santa’s helpers was even there to show off the new product.

Shenstone Brew Co. have been brewing since September, producing 3 Spires which is available in many local pubs. The ale can be found in the Horse & Jockey, Lichfield Garrick, The Fountain, The Shoulder of Mutton and many others around Lichfield and further afield, including Fox & Hounds in Shenstone and The Crown Inn in Handsacre.
