A man jailed for his part in a series of robberies – including one in Lichfield – has been told to pay £9,000.
Craig Reginald Clarke, formerly of Fareham Road in Birmingham, faces an extra five months on his 17 year sentence if he doesn’t cough up within six months.
The 32-year-old was part of a gang convicted of a number of robberies across the West Midlands.
One of the homes targeted was on Raikes Lane in Lichfield.
Clarke admitted conspiracy to commit three robberies, with other properties in Solihull and Bromsgrove on the list.
But West Mercia Police now hope to punish his pocket as well after revealing that his crimes saw him benefit to the tune of £45,000, with cars, cash jewellery and valuable pottery taken in the raids.
The force has successfully applied for a confiscation order against Clarke.
“The point is that crime does not pay,” said Pat Kelly from the West Mercia Police Ecomonic Crime Unit.
“He will have to pay up or receive another five months on top of his original sentence and still face having to pay at some point in the future.”
