A security guard has been robbed as he delivered money to a bank in Burntwood.
A man shoved the guard as he was delivering to the Barclays branch on Cannock Road at 2.10pm yesterday (February 27). He then made off with a cassette containing what police say is an “undisclosed amount of cash”.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “The robber then ran across a car park onto High Street and jumped onto a white/grey motorcycle, being ridden by another man. As the motorcycle left it was joined by other motorcycles and headed towards Bridge Cross Road.
“The rider of the motorbike was wearing a black bodywarmer over a blue jacket with a white helmet bearing a black design.
“The passenger – who stole the cash box – wore a blue hooded top and a red and white helmet with a design on the lower half.”
Police say the motorbike, which was stolen from Wednesfield, was recovered near to Morrisons in Burntwood later in the day.
Anyone with information on the incident, or who saw suspicious persons or the motorcycle in the area, is asked to contact DC Martin Wildes at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 355 of February 27, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
