A NEW novel set in 17th century Lichfield is being published.
Mad, Bad or Good? is written by Ian Walford and follows the fortunes of characters following the martyrdom of Edward Wightman in 1612.
His execution, which saw him burned at the stake in Market Square for heresy, was overseen by the then Sheriff of Lichfield – and now a launch for the book will see the current Sheriff in attendance.
The Revd Ian Hayter said:
“I’m delighted to have been invited to take part in the launch of this novel.
“It has been meticulously researched and is a great read. Fortunately, the current Sheriff isn’t expected to oversee such macabre events as the one featured in the book.”
The free launch event is open to all and will take place at Wade Street Church at 7.15pm on 15th January.
The Sheriff and author will be joined by Elaine Price, chair of Dr Milley’s Hospital Charity which will benefit from sales of the novel.
