Six people have been arrested as part of a nationwide operation targeting robbery and burglary suspects.
Police targeted addresses in Staffordshire, London and the West Midlands this morning (October 9).
The six are being questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and other offences – including ones which took place in Rugeley and Fradley.
ACC Nick Baker from Staffordshire Police said: “Today’s raids relate to offences which occurred during May, June and July of this year in locations including Nuneaton, Sutton Coldfield and Norton in the West Midlands, and Rugeley and Fradley in Staffordshire.
“So far five men and a woman have been arrested and they will be questioned while officers continue to search the targeted addresses.
“This detailed and painstaking investigation is focused on a group suspected of being involved in violent robberies across the Midlands. They are also suspected of stealing high powered cars in house burglaries then using these vehicles to commit further crimes.”
During the raids, police seized a “significant” amout of cash at an address in the West Midlands and in Staffordshire a number of cars have been seized as part of the operation, some under the proceeds of crime legislation and others as evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Homes and businesses in Burton, Tamworth, Great Barr, Sparkbrook, North London and the Jewellery Quarter are currently being searched as part of the operation.
