A NUMBER of schools across Lichfield and Burntwood have closed their doors for the day due to snow.

The winter weather overnight saw many make an early decision to shut today (9th January).

A statement from Nether Stowe School in Lichfield said:

“Due to severe weather conditions and unsafe surrounding roadways, our school will be closed to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.”

Chase Terrace Academy told students and parents:

“Due to unsafe site conditions and insufficient staffing, the school will be closed.

“With areas across Staffordshire affected differently by the snowfall, we do not want anyone to risk travelling.

“Home learning will be set.”

A full list of closures can be found on Staffordshire County Council’s website.
