Interesting to read the Lichfield Mercury’s front page tale about the Muckley Corner burial ground project rising from the dead.
The proposal for a crematorium and new cemetery were initially rejected back in December following a campaign by local residents who claimed the location of the scheme would lead to traffic problems and public health issues.
However, it now seems the man who originally proposed the scheme is resurrecting it.
An appeal statement on behalf of Aaamer Waheed said:
“His application was a perfectly reasonable proposal for redevelopment which was in accord with both national and local planning policies, and should not have been refused.”
Let’s hope for the sake of those residents who have objected that the decision makers show more backbone than those who did the U-Turn on the 24-hour access industrial units in Streethay, where a promised ‘fight’ against the plans turned into an exercise in white flag waving in the face of a developer who was prepared to stand and fight, despite the protests of locals.
