Young musicians in Lichfield and Burntwood have access to an “outstanding” music service, according to a national organisation.
Staffordshire Performing Arts (SPA) was given the accolade by the Federation of Music Services (FMS).
The rating is the highest that can be awarded, with lessons described as “inspirational” and leadership and management of the service was also rated as outstanding.
County Councillor Liz Staples sai
“The evaluation looked at the quality of teaching and learning provided by SPA both in an out of schools, as well as the standards achieved by pupils.
“It’s a well known fact that learning music transforms lives and boosts wider learning by raising pupil’s aspirations, self–esteem, attitudes and attendance. Here in Staffordshire, we pride ourselves on giving an excellent and highly-renowned service where young musicians can learn and achieve to their highest potential.”
