SureStore has acquired the 1.5acre site on Eastern Avenue that had previously housed Naturana.

It was purchased from Tempest Ford which had planned to move as part of the failed Friarsgate scheme before deciding to close completely in a row with Lichfield District Council.

Mike Wilson, managing director at SureStore, said: “The site on Eastern Avenue is a great location for our latest storage venture, being close to several major arterial roads.

“We are excited at the prospect of becoming an active member of the business community in Lichfield when we open our doors in the autumn.”

Birmingham-based Hortons’ Estate Limited will develop the new 45,000sq ft building on behalf of the company.

SureStore currently operates similar sites in Bolton, Cannock and Northwich, and intends to open a further six as well as Lichfield in the next 12 months.

Richard Norgrove, property director at Hortons’ Estate, said: “We are delighted to have worked with SureStore to facilitate the opening of its new facility on Eastern Avenue.

“We look forward to seeing the new unit operating later this year.”
