After causing spines to tingle at the 2009 Lichfield Festival, The Happiness Patrol is returning to the city with a new set of supernatural tales.
The new Tales of Terror show is based on the original commissions by Lichfield Festival and York Archaeological Trust and features the stories of MR James and Lafcadio Hearn.
Welcome to the quietly sinister world of the ghost story. Take a trip to the hotel where withered hands shoot out of darkened doorways to snatch at passers-by, or listen to the plaintive song of the fallen warriors as it echoes around an empty cemetery.
Pop into the charming antique shops where paintings and doll’s houses can suddenly come to life. Or leaf through old books filled with shockingly lifelike pictures of hideous creatures, and locks of hair pasted between the pages.
Walk through rose gardens and yew mazes and catch fleeting glimpses of their nightmarish inhabitants. But if you find buried crowns and broken whistles down on the beach, leave them well alone. They have probably been left there for a very good reason.
