Tourism association funds new bench in Lichfield

A new bench has been installed to give people chance to see the work being carried out by the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust.

It has been funded by the Lichfield District Tourism Association and has taken pride of place near the Boat Inn.

It sits alongside the canal, which volunteers are working hard to restore.

Among the first people to try out the new bench were the tourism association’s vice chair Sue Khan and Syd, her scarecrow created for the recent Elford Scarecrow Festival.

The group’s chair, Brian Pretty, said  “I am delighted with the new bench, as well as being able to support the superb work being done by the hard working volunteers of the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust.”

The Lichfield District Tourism Association has more than 120 members, all working to attract more visitors to the City and beyond.

Organisations interested in joining can find out more via www.visitlichfield.co.uk.
