Train company apologises to passengers after Lichfield services are delayed

London Midland has apologised to passengers after a number of delays on the cross-city line.

Several services yesterday evening (September 3) failed to get as far as Lichfield after a signalling fault.

Network Rail engineers were dealing with the problem which began affecting services at around 7pm.

A number of trains terminated at Blake Street with other Lichfield-bound carriages not even making it past Birmingham New Street.

A representative from London Midland used the company’s Twitter page to keep passengers updated.

“Owing to signalling problems between Redditch and Birmingham, services running to and from these stations may be delayed at short notice,” they said.

“Apologies to all those affected by the disruption.”

Passengers who had suffered delays of more than 30 minutes have been advised to claim compensation via the London Midland website.
