EDUCATION leaders have confirmed that a Lichfield secondary school and two primary schools will close when teachers walk out this week.
Members of the National Education Union are set to begin a series of strikes tomorrow (14th January) in protest at redundancy plans at the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership.
But while some schools – including The Bridge School in Lichfield and Greysbrooke Primary in Shenstone – will be unaffected by the industrial action, other sites will close completely tomorrow (14th January) and Thursday.
A spokesperson for the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership said:
“Due to the planned industrial action announced by the NEU, we are working to keep our school communities across Lichfield informed.
“During any industrial action, school leaders do their utmost to minimise disruption. However, in some cases school closures may be unavoidable.
“Nether Stowe School will be closed to the majority of pupils on 14th and 15th January.
“We recognise the difficulty of this situation for all concerned, and we appreciate the challenges that this may present for families.
“As a result, learning on these days will take place online. A very small number of pupils will be invited to attend school in person.
“Parents and carers of these pupils will be contacted directly with further details.
“Pupils who are entitled to free school meals will be provided with two packed lunches to take home on Tuesday 13th January.”
Primary schools will also be impacted with Anna Seward and Scotch Orchard closing completely during the strikes, while St Chad’s and St Michael’s will be open to specific year groups and vulnerable pupils only.
The trust spokesperson added:
“We would like to thank all those affected for their patience and understanding.”
