Voluntary groups based near Lichfield have been benefiting from a regional funding scheme.
Fazeley and Mile Oak residents as young as two years old and over eighty years old received money from the Staffordshire Local Community Fund, via councillor Matthew Ellis.
The Tiny Tots, who are based at the Mile Oak community centre received £180, while an older people’s lunch club which meets at the Mill Lane Link in Fazeley gained a £750 grant.
Cllr Ellis said:
“It’s a tremendous opportunity for providing relatively small amounts of money which makes a really big difference. Community groups in Fazeley and Mile Oak are thriving with longstanding ones as well as brand new ones offering practical and social activities which are worth their weight in gold.
“I’m delighted to have helped and wish them the best of luck.”
The new mums and tots group is using the funding to get established and also purchase materials for the kids to learn through play and making things. The £750 that went to the Lichfield Live at Home Charity which runs the lunch club will fund the basic costs of meeting for the next six months.
