An international footballer has paid a visit to see the achievement of Lichfield school students.
West Bromwich Albion and Slovakia defender Marek Cech spent the afternoon at Nether Stowe School on February 3 meeting a number of students who have been successful in a wide variety of arenas.
He met Chris Bell who has completed in excess of 150 hours of voluntary since September at school and within the community and also spent time with year 11 pupils who have already gained brilliant results from early entry examinations.
Marek spoke with sixth form students who are training to be the sports leaders of the future about their work with primary schools where they coach younger pupils.
His visit was rounded off when he joined in an energetic year eight basketball lesson.
Marek said:
“I am really impressed with the facilities at Nether Stowe School, especially the range of modern IT equipment. The school has done really well and I’m proud to celebrate with the students.”
Headteacher Ruth Poppleton added:
“Nether Stowe has made phenomenal progress over the last year and I am pleased to welcome Marek to the school to celebrate some of our many achievements. It is a great treat for the students to meet Marek. They were inspired by his story of dedication, determination and devotion which has made him the success he is.”
